Universal Monsters is brought to life in the renowned style and distinctive voice of Alex Ross and is a series of artwork celebrating the classic Universal Monsters. Featured in the initial compilation are Dracula, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man, The Mummy, and The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), directed by Jack Arnold, starred Richard Carlson, Julia Adams, and Richard Denning The story follows the members of a fossil-hunting expedition in the mist-shrouded Amazon River, where the explorers encounter a prehistoric, amphibious "Gill Man." The Creature, possibly being the last of a species, is captured by the team, but manages to escape, slaughtering several team members and abducting the female member (Julie Adams), dragging her away to his hidden lair.
