Who is Gary Welton

Gary Welton is a distinguished artist whose creative journey began in a family of visual artists, singers, and dancers, fostering his passion for the arts. He earned a BFA in studio arts from the University of Minnesota, studying under renowned artists such as Peter Busa, Herman Somberg, and Malcom Meyers of the New York School.

Welton's artwork, known for its dynamic portrayal of dance and movement, has graced prestigious national and international venues, including the Judith Ewing Morlan Contemporary Art Gallery in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and the Minneapolis Woman’s Club. His exhibitions span diverse locations such as Key West, India, and Chicago's Beverly Art Center and Museum.

In a remarkable commission, Welton was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings and U.S. Bank Stadium to capture the essence of American football through 64 paintings and drawings, now displayed prominently throughout the stadium's VIP spaces.

Acknowledged with numerous awards, Welton's talent has earned him recognition in programs like the "Art in Embassies Program" in Reykjavik, Iceland. His unique process, which involves painting directly from life with dancers in motion as his primary subjects, has garnered attention through various media platforms, including articles, television, and video productions.
