Born in Omsk in the former Soviet Union in 1975, Gleb Goloubetski displayed outstanding artistic talent as a child under the pedagogics of his father who was also a prestigious painter.

Gleb's formal training came from his studies at the highly acclaimed academy in St Petersburg where his work attracted much attention. Gleb's inspiration comes primarily from the aged architecture and geography of Europe. He travels extensively in the United Kingdom, the Mediterranean, the Far East, and Maui looking for scenes to paint. When he finds a composition that inspires him, Gleb will sit and absorb it for some time, paying attention to how the natural light conditions of the day influence his interpretation and more importantly his emotional response.

Returning to his main studio in St Petersburg, Gleb will sit and consider his reference material. Reminding himself of scale, he then begins to paint. It is Gleb's sentimental response to the subject that he conveys to the canvas, in oil, with only his palette knife.
